This book covers everything you need to know about Belfast, comparing the historical town of 400 years ago to the present day capital of Northern Ireland. The book is divided by location which makes it easy to understand the city, for interested locals and tourists alike. It is divided into the City Centre, The Cathedral Quarter, The Queen’s Quarter and The Titanic Quarter. Also included are sections on ‘Out and About’ and ‘Days Away’. The book contains information on historical buildings such as The Grand Opera House, George’s Market and numerous churches and cathedrals. It goes into some detail on the shipbuilding industry (including the Titanic), as well as showing the history of public facilities like Botanic Gardens, which sold to the Belfast Corporation in 1895. The book is well presented with plenty of high quality pictures to give you a feel for the town, though a visit is preferable!
