Buried Treasure
From the author of the bestselling Gruffalo, and illustrator of the award winning Little Red, comes this fabulous new tale of what happens when the worlds of two very different type of children’s book character collide.
The eponymous Troll lives under a bridge and longs for a tasty goat to come trip-trapping over it - alleviating his boring diet of fish, fish and more fish. Meanwhile, Hank Patch’s gang of bloodthirsty pirates are searching for treasure. The pirates take turns to cook evil tasting meals for each other and lament their lack of a decent cookbook. When the Troll and the pirates finally meet, will sparks fly or will they be able to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement? As one expects from two such luminaries in the world of children’s literature, The Troll is an absolute delight. The story is funny, surprising and exciting and the illustrations really capture the imagination. My three year old niece and her seven year old brother (who pretends he’s too old for books like this) were both captivated. They found something new in the illustrations every time we went back to the book – which became an instant bedtime favourite. Recommended.
