Shelf Life
Andy White
Andy White has recorded ten albums (his latest one just out is Songwriter) and has been on the road touring in one way or another since 1986 when his first album Rave on Andy White was released. In his new book, 21st Century Troubadour, just published by Lagan Press, White reveals his life of roaming the world performing as a solo artist.
Favourite book from childhood
Dr Doolittle, by Hugh Lofting.
Book I didn't make it through
Finnegan’s Wake, by James Joyce.
Secret reading vice
I dismantle my books, torture them on the road. Nobody will lend me books anymore.
Most under-rated book
Koba the Dread, by Martin Amis. I say this because I hate to read those mealy mouthed reviews of his work by reviewers who are most likely just jealous of him. Amis has an undeniably incredible prose style – even if you don’t like his prose style!
Most over-rated book

Irish writer I always look out for
Glenn Patterson.
One book I'd love to have written
In the realms of the possible - About a Boy by Nick Hornby.
The book I go back to time and again
1984 by George Orwell. It feels frighteningly familiar…
