Health is Wealth: A To Z Encylopedia of Over the Counter Natural Remedies
A comprehensive, no-nonsense guide to natural remedies for everything from acne to zoster herpes (shingles).
Alongside succinct definitions of common ailments and their treatment, Plant provides information on useful natural ‘medicines’ and advice on diet. It’s a mixed bag (I’m not sure even Plant can convince me of the efficacy of Homeopathy), but the information has been kept short and to the point – this is a reference point rather than a replacement for proper medical treatment. However, as a general reference it is perfectly fit for purpose.
Wicklow-born Plant is a former athlete turned naturopath, who tours the country advising people on a more natural route to a healthy life. He has more than 40 years experience in the field and was ahead of his time in his criticisms of the pharmaceutical and food industries for, respectively, peddling ‘quick fix’ remedies to ailments that need never develop and marketing foods packed with additives, as a replacement for a wholesome diet. Refreshingly simple, with no jargon or hectoring and thankfully avoids sounding airy-fairy or ‘new-age’, an excellent beginner’s guide.
