Up the Walls is funded as part of the Derry City Council's Arts and Regeneration programme. The Arts and Regeneration programme is funded by Derry City Council and The Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
The Project
Up the Walls is part of Derry City Council's Arts and Regeneration project which is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery Fund.
The Arts and Regeneration project has been established to strengthen community involvement in regeneration issues. The project is coordinated by Alice McCartney, Arts and Regeneration Officer in Derry City Council.

Artist's Statement
"ARTS recognise that conventional architectural and construction industry practice is intrinsically linked to national and global issues which, if unchecked, can dominate decision making processes in urban development, marginalising the needs and aspirations of those most directly effected by development, often existing communities."
"Beyond the production of art and architecture, ARTS aim to create and operate within contexts which empower communities at a ”grass roots level”, realising development of the built environment to meet community specific needs, understanding, supporting, and developing existing community structures and facilitating integration within larger urban contexts."
