Up The Walls
About Us
The Riverview area lies within the Diamond electoral ward and is bounded by Foyle Road, Bishop Street and Abercorn Road. It is also an interface area which presents its own unique set of problems. With this in mind we have, since our inception (beginning with our community audit conducted on a cross community basis), strived with considerable success to foster friendly working relationships with our neighbours in the Protestant Fountain Estate.
One of Riverview Residents Association's main objectives is to engage with the local community around the issue of regeneration, the role art can play in that process, and the importance of local residents' input into that process.
About the Programme
The Arts and Regeneration programme is a partnership programme funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The Arts and Regeneration programme is aimed at building links with local authorities and local communities and is seen as an initiative from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland aimed at targeting social need. The Arts and Regeneration's primary purpose is to address issues of physical renewal within Neighbourhood Renewal Areas. Alongside Civic Regeneration it is important to have a parallel regeneration process within neighbourhoods of need. The Arts and Regeneration programme aims to complement and enhance the development of regeneration in the participating areas each year.
