What we learned
The five main aspirations for the area were:
- 1. Increase in facilities for local people of all ages
- 2. More public art enhancing the area, gateways, bus shelters, art on the roundabouts
- 3. Recognition of historical events particularly Amelia Earhart
- 4. Better use of the green spaces in the area including play parks, sensory gardens and quiet spaces
- 5. Infrastructure and amenities for the area including improved pathways and somewhere to go at night
The extensive consultation was edited for a publication. The programme was ultimately a very successful example of the willingness of people in the area to participate and contribute to the regeneration of their area with approximately 2200 people participating in the consultation process.
